Emory University Class of 2024 Early Decision I and II Results

A wide shot of Emory University.
Emory University has sent out Early Decision II notifications.

Emory University has released decisions for the Class of 2024 in the Early Decision II round. Across both the Early Decision I and Early Decision II rounds, Emory received 3,272 applications. And if you’re unsure if there’s a bigger advantage in applying ED I as opposed to ED II, the statistics tell the story: 33% of ED I applicants earned admission while 13% of ED II applicants earned admission. Why the disparity? Well, as we at Ivy Coach have been saying for years, colleges are more insecure in the ED I round. Admissions officers don’t know if they’ll receive a strong Regular Decision pool. So they’re more lenient in their decision-making, whereas in Early Decision II, admissions officers have the advantage of seeing the full Early and Regular Decision pools — so they’re more secure and less lenient.

International Early Decision Applications to Emory Down

As Calen MacDonald reports for The Emory Wheel in a piece entitled “International Early Decision Applications Decreases by 3 Percent,” “Oxford College received 1,851 applicants, with an acceptance rate of 32 percent for ED I and 18 percent for ED II. Acceptance rates and the total number of applicants increased for the Atlanta and Oxford campuses compared to last year. Emory received 3 percent fewer international applicants between ED I and II applicant pools, according to [Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Enrollment and Dean of Admission John] Latting. Despite this decrease, the percentage of international students among the accepted class increased from 16 percent to 21 percent. ’In terms of getting student visas, America may not be quite as enthusiastically a friendly destination,’ Latting said. Fifty-seven percent of admitted students are female, and 14 percent are African American, Hispanic, Latinx or Native American, according to Latting.”

Congratulations to all students who have earned admission via Early Decision I or II to Emory University!
