The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Early Action application deadline was supposed to be October 15th but due to Hurricane Michael and its aftermath, the university made the decision to extend the EA deadline to today, October 19, 2018. It is not uncommon for schools to extend their Early Action or Early Decision deadlines — particularly to students impacted by natural disasters like hurricanes. And since Hurricane Michael affected students in such states as North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida, it’s not surprising that UNC would make this move.

UNC Extends Early Action Deadline By Four Days

As the UNC admissions office writes on its website, “We hope that you and your loved ones are safe in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael. Knowing that many of you were without power for the past several days, we’ve extended our Early Action application deadline to Friday, October 19 at 11:59 p.m. There’s no need to contact us if you’d like to take advantage of the deadline extension…Only your application and application fee or fee waiver request must be submitted by the deadline. We will continue to accept supplemental materials, including recommendation letters and transcripts, through November 1. If you’ve already submitted your application, thank you. We can’t wait to learn more about you!”
