Johns Hopkins University Class of 2029 Admissions Statistics

Are you as excited as we are to dive into Johns Hopkins University’s admitted Class of 2029? You might have stumbled across this post to size up your chances for admission next year. Or perhaps you’re weighing your options after having been waitlisted. No matter why you’re here, you’ve come to the right place to get all the juicy details on the JHU Class of 2029.
That said, we must acknowledge that details about these newly admitted Blue Jays are still forthcoming. We know that, so far for the Class of 2029, 1,732 applicants have been offered admission in the Regular Decision round out of a pool of 41,549 applicants, for a highly selective acceptance rate of just over 4%. These students are joining the 975 students who were admitted in one of two Early Decision rounds this past winter.
As we eagerly await the total number of applicants and the number of waitlisted applicants who will receive admissions offers, let’s unpack what we do know about the Class of 2029:

Johns Hopkins Class of 2029 in Historical Perspective
This is already shaping to be a decent turnout for the Class of 2029. Considering at least 41,549 applicants have applied in the Regular Decision round alone, and presumably several thousand more will be added to this tally once JHU publishes this data this summer, we anticipate that JHU will have either broken its application pool record by exceeding last year’s total of 45,860 or come pretty close!
Moreover, the 4% or so acceptance rate for Regular Decision applicants to the Class of 2029 places JHU among the most selective schools in the country. Once this figure combines with the ED I and II data, a new record could be on our hands (but only time will tell).
Profile of the Johns Hopkins University Admits to the Class of 2029
Those Regular Decision applicants admitted this year hail from 42 U.S. states, 39 countries, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. According to reporting by the Johns Hopkins University News-Letter, the campus’ student-run newspaper, “Of the admitted students, 18% are the first in their family to go to college. 60% plan to enroll in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, while the remainder plan to matriculate to the Whiting School of Engineering.” Moreover, “92% had a part-time/summer job or internship in high school, 51% played a sport and 48% involved themselves in some sort of advocacy work or civic engagement.”
A press release from JHU further elucidates these details by explaining that 61% of admits attended a public high school. Taken as a whole, this data is much more comprehensive than the data that other elite colleges have released during this admissions cycle, but some questions still need answering. What is the gender ratio of this incoming class? What about the racial demographics? What percent will apply for financial aid, and what percent are recipients of Pell Grants?
We might not yet know the answer to these questions until they are eventually published in JHU’s Common Data Set, but once they are, Ivy Coach will be the first to report back!
