Unsure if it’s actually possible to make it off the George Washington University waitlist for the Class of 2029 and onto campus? It might seem like the Revolutionaries over in D.C. are just using the waitlist to let you down gently, but we assure you that you still have a shot. But you must act quickly to optimize your odds of getting into the school of your dreams. Let’s review how you can do just that.

Your Chances of George Washington Admission After Being Waitlisted
So, what does the data tell us? Well, for one thing, GWU rarely dips into its waitlist by more than a handful of students — with one exception. Those students who were waitlisted for admission to the Class of 2024, when higher education at large was first being rattled by that little thing known as the COVID-19 pandemic, went on to be taken off the waitlist at a rate over 50%. In other words, if you were waitlisted to GWU in 2020, you were more likely than not to eventually be admitted.
Every other year, the waitlist acceptance rate has stayed below 6%. But you need not concern yourself with how many students GWU admits from the waitlist each year. Instead, you should focus on making sure that you or your child are among those select few who GWU admissions officers handpick because of the strength of their candidacy. Here are the steps Ivy Coach recommends you take as soon as possible after notice of being waitlisted:
Your Chances of Admission to George Washington After Being Waitlisted with Ivy Coach’s Help
Ivy Coach has a superb track record for getting students who come to us after being waitlisted at George Washington University off of the waitlist. While we can’t give you a guarantee of admission off the George Washington waitlist — no one can — we can give you the best chance possible, and if that’s not enough for you, then we are not the right fit.
It all comes down to Ivy Coach’s tried and true method of optimizing a student’s chances for admission after George Washington kicked the can on rendering a final verdict. That two-step process is as follows:
- Complete Ivy Coach’s PostMortem application review. We must see what a student did right and what they did wrong. The narrative we help craft can’t be out of left field. Rather, it needs to be consistent with the story conveyed in the student’s application and any and all supplemental materials — just told much more compellingly.
- Submit a compelling Letter of Continued Interest. Most students know that doing nothing is not the answer and that they should submit a letter after being placed on a college’s waitlist if they hope to earn admission. Most students know they should send that letter with great urgency. Yet most students send the wrong kind of letter. Ivy Coach’s letters to George Washington contain no tackless brags or updates. It’s a big reason why they’re so successful. We inspire George Washington admissions officers to root for our students!
