Barnard College Waitlist Acceptance Rate and Statistics

There’s a healthy amount of data to dive into regarding the waitlist acceptance rate at Barnard. Taking a glance back through over a decade of Common Data Setswe start to get a picture of how the Class of 2029 can expect to do once decisions start rolling out. Let’s take a look:

Looking back over the Barnard waitlist acceptance rate through the years, one notices that it tends to hover around 5% or so — except for the Class of 2027. For the most recent admissions cycle for which we have data, Barnard admitted 13.73% of its waitlisted applicants. While no one can say for sure how well the Class of 2029 will fare, this spike in acceptance is still relatively reassuring.

It’s important to note that the number of waitlisted students that Barnard admissions officers choose to admit is entirely determined by the yield rate, a factor that is impossible to predict. Yield is simply the proportion of admitted students who choose to enroll. If every admitted student enrolled, Barnard would have no use for any of the applicants they are keeping on the back burner, a.k.a. the waitlisted applicants. Fortunately, there has not been a recent year where Barnard didn’t pull from its waitlist.

Your Chances of Admission to Barnard After Being Waitlisted With Ivy Coach’s Help

With a 62% success rate over three decades, Ivy Coach has a proven track record of getting students who come to us after getting waitlisted at Barnard off the waitlist and onto the campus of their dreams. Our success is the result of our unique approach that optimizes a student’s chances for admission after being placed in the in-between. It’s a two-step process that proceeds as follows:

  1. Complete Ivy Coach’s PostMortem application review. First, we have to see what a student did right and what they did wrong. The narrative we help students present after being waitlisted must be consistent with the student’s story as presented in the application — just told in a much more powerful and endearing way. It can’t be out of left field!
  2. Send in a powerful Letter of Continued Interest. Most students correctly know that they should submit a letter after being waitlisted, and most know they should do so expediently. Yet most students send the wrong kind of letter — a letter abounding in superfluous brags and updates. Ivy Coach’s Letters of Continued Interest contain no updates or brags. It’s an important reason our wonderfully weird love letters frequently work. We inspire admissions officers to want to go to bat for our students.
