If you were waitlisted to Boston College’s Class of 2029, you’re likely wondering if you have a genuine shot of earning admission to the incoming class out of limbo. So let’s examine BC’s recent waitlist acceptance history!

BC Waitlist Acceptance Rates and Statistics

Below are BC’s waitlist acceptance statistics over the last few years — from the Class of 2027 through the Class of 2022. If no data is reported for a year, it’s because BC chose not to include its waitlist statistics in the school’s release to The Common Data Set.

Your Chances of Admission to Boston College After Being Waitlisted

While BC regularly turns to its waitlist, the school does not always reach deep down its waitlist. In recent years, in years in which the school has published waitlist data, BC has admitted a high of 273 waitlisted applicants and a low of 13 applicants.

On average, around 2.79% of waitlisted applicants to BC — or 104.5 students — earned admission for the years the school chose to release data.

Ivy Coach Can Help With Boston College Admission

Over the last 10 years, around 37% of students who first approach Ivy Coach after being placed on BC’s waitlist have earned admission to the incoming class with our assistance.

So what does our waitlist assistance include? It’s a two-step process that goes as follows:

  1. Complete Ivy Coach’s PostMortem application review. We need to understand how a student positioned their case for admission. After all, how a student positions their case for admission after being waitlisted can’t be out of left field. An art history student can’t suddenly be a chemistry student. During this session, we’ll point out what went right and wrong and what needs to change if the student hopes to earn a seat in the incoming class. It’s not to Monday morning quarterback. It’s to discern how a student should present to BC’s admissions office moving forward.
  2. Submit a powerful Letter of Continued Interest. Most students correctly know that doing nothing is an unlikely strategy to earn admission off BC’s waitlist. Yet submitting just any kind of letter to the admissions office does not suffice. Most students are inclined to brag and update BC on all they’ve achieved in the few months since submitting their applications. But that will only render them unlikable. Our students’ letters in a word are weird. They’re love letters to BC that showcase how a student will contribute a singular hook — rather than well-roundedness — to the institution.
