Which public and private universities boast the largest Jewish student bodies in America and Canada? For many Jewish high school students, in particular, in light of a rising tide of virulent antisemitism here in America and globally in the wake of years of institutional apathy in the face of violence against Jewish students on elite college campus, attending a university with a vibrant Jewish community where one is safe and accepted is essential.
Of course, the sheer number of Jewish students on each college campus doesn’t always shine a light on the happiness and, in some cases, the safety of these Jewish students (e.g., Columbia may have a large Jewish student population but the university administration’s indifference to its Jewish students as antisemitic encampments took over student life in the spring of 2024 was maddening!). Yet we still believe it vital to track the number of Jewish students on college campuses to keep these schools accountable — particularly if representation dwindles. So, which schools boast the most Jewish students in their student bodies? Wonder no more.
Colleges & Universities Ranked By Jewish Population
Why It Matters to Track Jewish Student Population Size at Colleges
We share these figures chiefly because we’re gravely concerned about the declining number of Jewish students at Ivy League schools and other elite universities across America and Canada, particularly as antisemitism surges across college campuses and administrators so often turn a blind eye.
While many schools tout the percentage of African American/Black, Latino, Native American, first-generation college students, low-income students, and more, many don’t release corresponding figures for Jewish students in their student bodies. As such, we at Ivy Coach will spotlight these figures to hold these universities accountable, especially in the wake of a horrendous couple years of student repression and condoning of antisemitic violence at places like Columbia.
