How Hard Is It to Get Off of Case Western’s Waitlist?

Ok, so you’ve seen all the numbers. Let’s break them down together. Over the past 20 years, Case Western’s waitlist acceptance rate has hovered around 13.14%.

What’s up with the variation in the numbers, though? In some years, the waitlist acceptance rate has been 0% and in other years it’s been as high as 45%.

The biggest determinant of how far an admissions committee will reach down its waitlist is the school’s yield — admissions jargon for the percentage of accepted students who ultimately choose to enroll. The higher the yield, the fewer students selected off the waitlist.

At Ivy Coach, we tell our students that in the admissions process, as in life, there’s that which falls within your realm of control and outside of it. A school’s yield? Totally outside your realm. But how do you navigate Case Western after being placed on their waitlist? That is well within your realm.

Your Chances of Admission to Case Western After Being Waitlisted with Ivy Coach’s Help

Over the last 30 years, around 40% of students who work with Ivy Coach after being waitlisted by an elite university earn admission. Compare that to only 10% of all waitlisted students.

This isn’t because we’re magicians! It’s because we’re something much better than that: experts. Our team of former elite college admissions officers has developed a tried and true method of helping students get off a university’s waitlist and onto its campus. Here at Ivy Coach, we like to call that method the two-step:

  1. Complete Ivy Coach’s PostMortem application review. We need to see what the student did successfully and what they did wrong in their Case Western application. The narrative we help craft can’t have fallen from the sky. Rather, it needs to be consistent with the story conveyed in the Case Western application — just told in a more cohesive, powerful way this time around.
  2. Submit a compelling Letter of Continued Interest. Most students know they must submit a letter after being waitlisted to ultimately receive admission. And most know they should do so quickly. But most students send the wrong kind of letter. Ivy Coach’s letters to Case Western contain no brags or updates. It’s a big reason why they’re so successful. We inspire admissions officers at Case Western to go to bat for our students!
