Were you recently waitlisted at Tufts? You’re probably wondering: Is this just Tufts’ way of letting me down easy or do I still have a shot? Well, take a deep breath. If you play your cards right, you still have a shot at going Jumbo.

Your Chances of Admission to Tufts After Being Waitlisted
In the past 12 years, Tufts has published its waitlist data for nine different years. Of those nine years, Tufts turned to its waitlist six times: for the Classes of 2028, 2027, 2026, 2024, 2023, and 2022. The waitlist acceptance rate for those six years averages out at 13.6%
If we look at only the most recent three admissions cycles, we find a slightly higher waitlist admissions rate of 14%. This is higher than Tufts’ overall admissions rate of 10%!
So, in brief, all hope is not lost. But you can’t just cross your fingers and toes and wish upon a star. You have to take action to make that 14% work in your favor! How you approach Tufts after getting waitlisted makes all the difference in the world.
Your Chances of Admission to Tufts After Being Waitlisted with Ivy Coach’s Help
Over the past 30 years, Ivy Coach has developed a stellar track record at helping students turn a waitlist letter into an acceptance letter: around 40% of students who have first come to Ivy Coach after being waitlisted by an elite university have gone on to earn admission to that institution, compared to a 10% acceptance rate for the average waitlisted applicant.
How do we do it? No, it’s not alchemy! It’s something even better than that: our tried and true method of optimizing a student’s shot at admission after being placed on the waitlist. And believe it or not, it all boils down to two steps:
- Complete Ivy Coach’s PostMortem application review. We must see what a student did right and wrong in their application. The narrative we help craft can’t be brand new. Instead, it needs to line up with the story and personality conveyed in The Common Application and Tufts supplement — just told much more convincingly.
- Submit a compelling Letter of Continued Interest. You probably already know that you must write and send a letter after being placed on the waitlist to ultimately earn admission. But do you know what you should write in that letter? Hint: it’s not brags or updates about what you’ve been up to in the few months since you applied.
